Mozart in

namhaften Orchestern (u.a. Wiener Kammerorchester, Wiener Concertverein, Orchestre

Philharmonique du Monte Carlo, Tschechisches National-Symphonieorchester) arbeitete, wird

das Eliteorchester der polnischen Kulturhauptstadt Krakau, seine Sinfonietta Cracovia,

vorstellen.

gearbeitet.

Am Programm stehen Musikstücke voll slawischen Flairs: u.a.

machen.

Sinfonietta Cracovia’s Austrian turnée

Sinfonietta Cracovia has a pleasure to announce its upcoming performance in one of the

most renowned European concert halls: the famous Wiener Konzerthaus.

On September 12 th (19:00) the orchestra will join on stage the famous Hungarian trumpet virtuoso Gábor

Boldoczki – while performing highly diversified, unique program under the baton of the chief

conductor Jurek Dybał.

The evening’s repertoire will include outstanding works of composers from the Central and Eastern Europe region, showcasing their distinctive yet multifarious characteristics: the particularly captivating Slavic flair. Guests will have an opportunity to admire the bravura performances of Franciszek Lessel’s Overture in G minor, Karol Szymanowski’s romantic Etude in B-flat minor and the famous Ninth Symphony From the New World by Antonín Dvořák.

The evening will be honored by the Viennese premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Concertino

per tromba e orchestra, who will attend the concert himself. The brilliant composition of the

Polish Maestro – which was co-commissioned by the Sinfonietta Cracovia – was written

specifically for Boldoczki, who was involved personally in the process of the pieces

development. The concert will also feature the premiere performance of Boldoczki’s

transcription of Mozart’s Concerto for horn and orchestra.

The Viennese concert promotes the new album recorded by Boldoczki and Sinfonietta

Cracovia for the prestigious Sony Classical label entitled Oriental Trumpet Concertos.

Beside aforementioned Penderecki’s Concertino it features trumpet concerto written and dedicated

to Boldoczki by the Turkish composer Fazil Say – whose work is considered to be one of the

greatest discoveries of the recent years – and the trumpet concerto by one of the most

superb Armenian composers, Alexander Arutiunian.

The new CD will be signed by Gábor Boldoczki and Jurek Dybał right after the performance.

The concert will be preceded by an original and unconventional artistic venture – which is

usually the case for the vast majority of Sinfonietta’s projects.

At 14:00, just a few hours before the performance in Konzerthaus, Viennese Atelier Suterena will host a special meeting with Professor Krzysztof Penderecki, Gábor Boldoczki and Jurek Dybał, during which

the artists will discuss the upcoming concert and future joint projects while elaborating on

the topic of the culture- and community-shaping functions of art and its potential / impact in

terms of the social bonding. The unusual press conference will be accompanied by the

intermedial performance of Sinfonietta Cracovia’s chamber players, who will play

Penderecki’s String Quartet no. 2 and recognized artist Olga Georgieva, who will carry out a

large-format live painting session inspired by the colored manuscripts of the famous Polish

composer.

Live Painting in Atelier Suterena

STARS WITH SINFONIETTA – RAFAEL PAYARE

Seeing world’s best conductors perform in Krakow is not a common experience, and seeing them conduct Polish orchestra is even less common. Energetic Rafael Payare, one of the most sought-after conductors of younger generation, will be the guest of the next concert of the “Stars with Sinfonietta” cycle. A Venezuelian, called by Lorin Maazel his successor, will perform Robert Schumann’s great symphonic works with Sinfonietta Cracovia.

Sinfonietta Cracovia keeps on working! After the concert with Gábor Boldoczki another exciting event is about to happen – the cycle “Stars with Sinfonietta” will host young, charismatic conductor Rafael Payare. Having won the famous Nicolai Malko International Conducting Competition in Denmark in 2012, the Venezuelian artist speeded up his career. Since that time, he has been invited to perform with many renowned orchestras, including the Vienna and Munich Philharmonic, London Symphony and Chicago Symphony. It was Lorin Maazel who was one of the first people to have discovered Payare’s talent and, as his mentor, invited him to participate in his Castleton Festival. Young conductor had a unique opportunity to work with the best artists – as an assistant conductor he also cooperated with Claudio Abbado while preparing Simón Bolívar Orchestra to the performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, as well as with Daniel Barenmboim with whom he worked on stagingSiegfried in the Berlin’s Staatsoper in 2012.

The artist receives praises also from Maestro Penderecki and was asked to conduct few concerts during the celebrations of the composer’s 80th birth anniversary, thus appeared at the event with such personalities as Valery Gergiev, Charles Dutoit, Leonard Slatkin and Jiri Belohlavek. Payare underwent the education in the famous Venezuelian “El Sistema” and made a professional debut as a member of Simón Bolívar Orchestra. Interestingly enough, first as a horn player, not a conductor.

The concert of Sinfonietta Cracovia under Rafael Payare in the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic will feature the quintessential repertoire of the Romantic period – Robert Schumann’s symphonies, constantly well-received by many performers and listeners.

Richard Galliano & Sinfonietta Cracovia

Galliano – jazz musician, multi-instrumentalist and composer, gained a lot of attention in 2010 when Deutsche Grammophon released his CD titled Bach. Accompanied by Sinfonietta Cracovia, he will present the album’s repertoire in Racibórz on December 2 and in Chorzów on December 3.

Richard Galliano belongs to the greatest figures of contemporary music scene and needs no introduction. Jazz musician, multi-instrumentalist and composer, known also as an accordion virtuoso whose interpretations of Astor Piazzolla’s tangos became a trademark. In 2010 he surprised his fans and colleagues all over the world by releasing his first classical CD, recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, featuring Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions. The artist defines the album as “the essence of 45 years of his experience”. Interestingly enough, he respects enourmously Bach’s works and their universality. Despite his extraordinary talent for improvisation, he has not changed a single note while arranging the compositions for accordion. He has selected such works as the immortal Air,Badinerie and Prelude from Cello Suite No. 1. The artist invited a string quartet, comprising his regular co-performers, to join the recording. In Racibórz and Chorzów, Galliano will be accompanied by Sinfonietta Cracovia.

Richard Galliano and Sinfonietta Cracovia will perform on December 2, 2015

at 7.00 pm in the Racibórz Culture Centre,  and on December 3, 2015 at 7.00 pm in the Chorzów Culture Centre.

SINFONIETTA CRACOVIA – FLASH MOB AND PREPARATIONS TO THE CONCERT IN PERPIGNAN

The fact that our flash mob caused enthusiastic reactions in Europe is already a common knowledge. Over 38 000 people visited our official Facebook profile. And this is only one of the sources of the video. Few weeks ago, asked by the organizers of the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades and one of the local shopping malls, we repeated the happening in France. We performed Krzesimir Dębski’s “Krakowiak in 20 bars” and, joined by clarinetist Michel Lethiec, “Summertime” from George Gershwin’s opera “Porgy&Bess”. Our performance, which popularizes maestro Casals’s concept of reaching out with music to the largest group of listeners possible, as well as preparations to the concert in the Palace of the Kings of Majorka in Perpignan were recorded by TV France 3.

“Hommage á Sibelius” – Sinfonietta’s new artistic season

The year 2015 marks the anniversary of the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius and it will be his music that Sinfonietta Cracovia will start a new season with. The uniqueness and authenticity of the performance will be guaranteed by the presence of the renowned, award-winning Finnish artist Jaakko Kuusisto. The fact that his agenda of one of the most versatile and sought-after performers in Finland is packed proves his on-going popularity both in his native country and abroad.  During his concerts the artist very often plays a double role – conducts and plays violin, as well as presents his own compositions. It will not be different when he appears on stage with Sinfonietta in order to interpret the works of Sibelius, Kreisler and his own compositions. Concert “Hommage á Sibelius” will be a part of 40th anniversary edition of the „Music in Old Krakow” Festival, organized by the Capella Cracoviensis Foundation.

„Stars with Sinfonietta” – Sinfonietta Cracovia starts a new concert series!

Sinfonietta Cracovia’s performance of the top 18th- and 21st-century compositions will open a new concert series “Starts with Sinfonietta” meant to introduce internationally renowned soloists and conductors to the listeners.

The programme of the first galactic concert will include W.A. Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D major K. 314 performed by French flute virtuoso Philippe Bernold – professor at the Paris Conservatory and prize-winner of the Jean-Pierre Rampal International Competition in Paris, followed by Sinfonietta’s interpretation of Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 in C major “Jupiter” K. 551. We have also planned a special concert opening, namely Krzysztof Penderecki’s Sinfonietta No. 3 “Leaves from an Unwritten Diary” which will probably be performed in Krakow for the first time.

“This melodious and nostalgic composition, which contains a fragment of the oriental folk melody played by prof. Penderecki’s grandfather, is particularly dear to my hear because I was privileged to premiere its original version written for quintet. It will be a great pleasure to present the orchestral version to the audience in Krakow” – said director Jurek Dybał.

Come and join our musical meeting in May held in an unique and picturesque scenery of the Museum of Municipal Engineering.

Sinfonietta Light – Marcin Wyrostek

Sinfonietta Cracovia is pleased to invite you to the second concert of the SINFONIETTALight cycle, involving the presence of an accordion virtuoso Marcin Wyrostek.

The cycle SinfoniettaLight has been designed to prove that music essentially falls into 2 categories – a good and a bad one. “Entertainment”, understood as a general concept, might become a true art provided that it is properly presented. Marcin Wyrostek’s artistic approach serves as an example of this belief.

The concert with Sinfonietta will give an opportunity to introduce an audience to the material from the artist’s recent album „For Alice”. Energetic compositions combining the elements of Balkan, Celtic, Latin American and classical music, performed on 20th of March in the Auditorium Maximum of Jagiellonian University, will certainly not stay unnoticed. The winner of the TV show “Poland’s Got Talent” will prove that accordion, whose contemporary structure was first constructed only in 1829, is practically a perfect instrument. The listeners will experience a wide variety of uncommon sound possibilities, ranging from gentle timbre of flute to powerful and dynamic symphony orchestra.

Marcin Wyrostek will be joined on stage by the fearless, open to all challenges Sinfonietta Cracovia –

a musical Special Task Force.

” The Viennese with Sinfonietta – Robert Nagy”

„Don Juan on International Women’s Day”

The next concert of the extremely popular cycle „The Viennese with Sinfonietta” will take place on March 8th and will naturally be related to International Women’s Day. This special occasion, combined with the Viennese style, will undoubtedly make a great fusion.

The sentimental meaning of red carnations will be contrasted with Hungarian virtuosity and temperament of our guest soloist Robert Nagy – the principal cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

The concert’s programme includes compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Danzi that refer to Don Juan – unscrupulous “seducer from Seville” and heartbreaker, famous figure in the 17th and 18th century. The artists will also perform one of the greatest pieces of the cello repertoire, namely Joseph Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D major , and close the concert with Symphony in E flat major written by Wojciech Dankowski – slightly forgotten composer of Polish galant music. His works gained much recognition during his lifetime. “My ambition is to reintroduce beautiful Polish classical compositions to the regularly performed repertoire which includes the works of Haydn and Mozart” said Sinfonietta’s director Jurek Dybał who will conduct the orchestra and give an introduction to the concert.
On International Women’s Day we would like to take you to the world of royal courts, intrigues and heartbreaks. And all of this in order to remind you that male-female relations, also in the history of music, have never gone out of fashion. Tickets for “The Viennese with Sinfonietta” are selling fast so pick yours up before it’s too late!

The concert is co-organized by the Krakow Festival Office – ICE Kraków operator.

Przewidziano wiele niespodzianek i interdyscyplinarne zabawy muzyczne.

Noworoczny koncert Sinfonietty Cracovii!

Nowy Rok w Nowym Jorku

Głównym punktem programu styczniowego koncertu będzie Suita z Porgy and Bess George`a Gershwina w aranżacji na klarnet i orkiestrę smyczkową.

New Year – New York in Cracow!

The New Year’s concert of Sinfonietta Cracovia featuring American music and a great deal of jazz and klezmer groove!

An American in Paris, or rather a Parisian in America, French clarinet virtuoso Michel Lethiec, known for his vibrant performances rooted in Benny Goodman’s tradition, will interpret the love story of Porgy and Bess – the first African American protagonists of George Gershwin’s groundbreaking jazz opera.
Suite for clarinet and strings, commissioned by Lethiec, has gained broad recognition among listeners across Europe, the United States and Asia, and the album containing the composition (available during the concert) was received enthusiastically by critics.
Auditorium Maximum of Jagiellonian University in Cracow will also witness the performance of the arrangements of Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and Astor Piazzola’s Adiós Nonino and Oblivion given by this versatile artist with a sophisticated sense of musical humour and Sinfonietta.
The Orchestra will subsequently lead the second part of the evening under the baton of its new director, member of the Vienna Philharmonic, Jurek Dybał who – following in Bernstein’s footsteps – will also give an introduction to the concert. The entire event will grasp the old, New York style and provide a high-quality musical entertainment for the audience.
Join our carnival evening with the music of New York composers covering the elements of classical, jazz and tango music.

Pierwszy symfoniczny koncert w sali S2 ICE Kraków

Pierwszym symfonicznym koncertem, jaki zabrzmi w sali S2 w ICE Kraków – Congress Centre,
Serdecznie zapraszamy do przedświątecznego spotkania z klasyką wiedeńską z najwyższej półki.
Współorganizatorem koncertu jest Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe, operator
