Terms and Conditions






  1. The Organizer of the Competition is the Orchestra of the Royal Capital City of Krakow Sinfonietta Cracovia with its seat in Poland, Krakow (30-010), ul. W. Łokietka 14.


  1. Competition is aimed to promote young composers and to broaden the repertoire for string orchestra.


  1. The subject of the Competition is an original piece entitled Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki for a string orchestra and percussion (max. ensemble formation: 6-5-4-4-1 / perc. 3). Duration of the piece must be from 7 to 12 minutes. Exact list of the percussion instruments that can be used is stated in the Attachment No. 3 to the following Terms and Conditions.


  1. The submitted composition can be sub-titled.


  1. Entry into the Competition is open to all composers under 40 years of age.


  1. The submitted composition must be an original composition that has not been yet performed, awarded or published.


  1. Each participant can submit no more than two compositions.


  1. To enter the Composition Entrants must submit following digital files via online Application Form:


  • music materials marked with en emblem stated in the online Application form:


  • electronic transposition of the composition’s score, with parts (PDF format),
  • digitally generated audio simulation of the composition.


  • password-protected Participant’s Card (PDF format; for more see item 13 below).


  1. Online Application Form is available at: tiny.cc/sinfonietta-EN



  1. Application deadline is 30 June 2020, 11:59 PM (CEST). Applications submitted after the deadline will not be processed.
  2. Full and correct completion of the online Application Form (including attaching the required materials referred to in item 8 above) equals successful submission of the piece and completing the application. Sending any materials / documents in paper form is neither required nor allowed.


  1. The online Application Form contains an Information Clause regarding the processing of personal data by the Organizer (GDPR) and a list of obligatory Statements of the Participant (see: Attachment No. 2 to these Terms and Conditions, available at www.sinfonietta.pl). Confirmation of its read and accepting its content via the online Application Form is tantamount to submitting by the Participant her/his declaration of intent in this regard.


  1. In order to fully anonymize the entries until the Jury will finalize its proceedings, Entrants must attach the completed Participant’s Card to the online Application Form (template ‒ Attachment No. 1 to these Terms and Conditions). Participant’s Card must be protected with a password known only to the Entrant. The Card contains the Participant’s personal data, which will be disclosed to the Organizer after the Jury session. The link to the editable version of the Card is included in the online Application Form.


Information regarding the end of the Jury proceedings will be published on the Organizer’s website (www.sinfonietta.pl). Along with its publication, an additional online Verification Form will be available, enabling the confirmation of the Participants’ identity. The Verification Form will require the Participants to state:


  • her / his name and last name,
  • chosen emblem,
  • password to the PDF file with the Participant’s Card.


Failure to complete the Verification Form within the time limit specified by the Organizer (not less than 48 hours from the end of the Jury session) will constitute a condition for disqualification of the Participant.


  1. Participants wishing to submit two works to the Competition must complete the online Application Form twice, separately for each work. The second of the submitted works may or may not have the same emblem as the first.


  1. The online Application Form contains detailed instructions and guidelines for the application process, including proposed / suggested technological solutions. The application process requires the use of only free, generally available programs and / or online tools. In case of any problems or doubts regarding the application process, please contact the Organizer at office@sinfoniettacracovia.com.


  1. The Competition’s Jury consists of recognized experts in the field of composition:


  • Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa,
  • Eugeniusz Knapik,
  • Marcel Chyrzyński,
  • Jurek Dybał.


  1. Information about the winners and prize-awarded compositions will be published at the Organizer’s website (www.sinfonietta.pl) no later than 7 July 2020.


  1. The Competition’s Prize consists of a premiere performance of the winning composition Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki during the Sinfonietta Festival in Krakow, including its professional audio-video recording and other performances of the piece during the 2020/2021 concert season. Due to pandemic of the coronavirus the Organizer reserves the right to change the form of the Competition’s Prize.


  1. All prizes, including the possible honourable mentions and special commendations will be awarded at the discretion of the Jury.


  1. The decisions of the Jury are independent, final and irrevocable.


  1. The winners of the Competition are obliged to include the full name of the awarded composition (Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta: Hommage à Krzysztof Penderecki) and the following information about the circumstances of its creation in all future published editions of the piece’s score and other compilations which may refer to the composition (e.g. Wikipedia pages): Composition created for the International Composition Competition ‘Sinfonietta per Sinfonietta’ organized by the Orchestra of the Royal Capital City of Krakow Sinfonietta Cracovia.


  1. The Organizer reserves the right to use the scores and parts of the awarded compositions / compositions given honorable mentions free of charge and to record its performances for archival, documentary and promotional purposes in accordance with the rules specified in the Attachment No. 2 (Participant’s Statements).


  1. By submitting online Application Form (see: Item 9) the Entrant unequivocally agrees to the Competition’s Terms and Conditions.


  1. The Organizer reserves the right to introduce changes to the Competition’s Terms and Conditions and its schedule or to cancel the Competition due to the exceptional occurrences going beyond their control or to force majeure.
